Few things give me more nerdy satisfaction than seeing my stack of language-books get taller and taller, even if I
rarely to never touch a good majority of them. It's the visual appeal of it that makes me all giddy. Each time I collect another book, I am reminded of the fact that, however large my collection is in my mind, it's probably a sliver of the size of most HTAL users. This thought constantly makes me curious, just how does everyone's language bookshelf look? I'll post a picture of mine once I organize it a bit, but in the meanwhile, does anyone want to contribute with a photo of their own bookshelf? :) EDIT: Here's what's at home. It's normally spread over a few shelves, but to fit all of it one photo I just squished it into one shelf. The stuff I actually use on a regular basis, though, is at school. Ever since I've been little I've always gotten my nerdy satisfaction out of seeing my
knowledge stack grow. Something about feeling of knowing that all that you are is all up there... Even if it's not all that wide or deep, compared to other smarter or more erudite people. :) Lately, though I've been fascinated by Piotr Wozniak (the Supermemo guy) and his effort to SRS all his knowledge. Kind of an ordinary guy with a cape... But I still do get a bit giddy at the visual of my little book collection too:) though lately it's been mostly ebooks for me. Same as I felt for my little book collection, back in Russia, or in libraries, or browsing friends' book. So I'll augment Tecktight's request to post your book collection (language related or not) by asking for a profile link to librarything, goodreads or some other such book sharing/cataloging site. I cannot post a picture because my book shelf is in China and I am currently doing an internship in Germany
but I have around 15-20 books for Mandarin and Chinese characters (most are junk unfortunately), 5 for Cantonese, 5-10 for Shanghainese, 5 for Korean, a few for Japanese and a 1TB hard drive full of language materials. I'm a real junky when it comes to language learning resources. Wish I spent more time using some of these resources than I did buying them :( 1 person has voted this message useful | |

My language books are so many, and they are all mixed with my other books, so I am afraid that such a

I'm in a similar situation as Solfrid Cristin with my collection exceeding shelf-space, and many books sitting in large discarded cardboard boxes from Safeway. I also have binders full of .pdfs in hard copy which also sit in those boxes.
If I get around to it, I'll probably take a picture of just my Estonian books since I know that you know what they're about, Tecktight. Those books are just as impressive / meaningless to my friends as my more familiar stuff for French and German :-). 2 persons have voted this message useful | |
