Learners and lovers of Japanese have another way of showing their love and appreciation of the country and its unique culture and language.

Over at http://www.readthekanji.com they've put a link on the start page to teh American Red Cross's fund to relieve the victims of yesterday's earthquake and tsunami.

I applaud that, and trust that many linguists studying Japanese that their love of the language and its people extends beyond the academic into the practical also.

I've donated as much as my funds will allow. :( Deeply affected by this! It's amazing how involved you get with the culture and people when learning their language.

I plan on donating as well. Though I am just a beginner in the language, I have been listening to the news coverage in Japanese, and it has been helping.

I'm not even studying Japanese, but I've already donated. I feel that in times like this the "international family" needs to show our support and stand with the victims, no matter whether we have a personal connection or not.

Many thanks to Huliganov for the American Red Cross link for the Japan Tsunami Appeal.

I've also added a link for UK members who may wish to donate through the British Red Cross too.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends affected by this disaster.
