I think that Dr. Freire is amazing. I had the chance to interview him (in English) and post the recording of our interview on my blog. I also translated the interview that Vini mentioned into English and also put it up on my blog. Dr. Freire has a poetry anthology that I want for Christmas. He translated 60 poems, each from a different language, into Portuguese. No language lover should pass up the insights of a man who has learned 115 languages.

I read somewhere that he claims to have found similarities between aimara and georgian when working in Bolivia, and published a book in russian about this.

Until 2009 he studied 120 languages, and he studies two languages per year, so he must
have studied 124 languages from now.
And a little correction: his name is "Carlos Amaral Freire", not "Carlos do Amaral
Freire".
