I have to admit that I don’t usually read so many books in my native language either! ;-) @Cavesa Thanks! I don’t think I’ve realized yet what an achievement finishing the Double Super Challenge was. I’m probably still coming to terms with the fact that I’ve actually completed it. Give me a few more months and maybe I’ll begin to feel proud of what I did. It is a huge achievement, I am still struggling with my ASCS (advanced super challenge

I agree. Turning the 200/200 into a multi-year project is the only reasonable thing to do. Back in the day I rejected the idea of the “Advanced” Super Challenge because I thought it too crazy. But now that I’ve finished the Double Super Challenge (new rules) I’m reconsidering the “original” Super Challenge (100/100x20months/old rules). The fact is that since I posted my 200th book unit I’ve practically stopped reading. That’s frustrating when coming down from a year of voracious reading. Here are my last two efforts for TAC’14 and Team Asgard.
[Corrections are always welcome] November Challenge: Scandinavian Art Music Edvard Grieg var en kompositör från Norge. Han var en företrädare för den senromantiken. Han föddes 1843 i Bergen och dog där 1907. Han studerade musik vid Leipzigs konservatorium där han skrev tiolalet verk. Grieg gav sin första konsert 1861 och på 1860-talet var han länge på konsertresor i Skandinavien, Tyskland, Italien, Frankrike, England och Ryssland. Norska folkmusiken och norska naturen präglar Griegs kompositioner och gör honom till en nationalromantiker. Det betyder att han spelade en viktig roll i utvecklingen av den norska nationalidentiteten. Peer Gynt är musiken Grieg komponerade till Ibsens pjäs med samma namn som hade premiär 1876 i Oslo (som kallades Christiania på den tiden). Från musiken valde Grieg ut åtta av satserna som han utgav som Svit No. 1, Op. 46, och Svit No. 2, Op. 55. Ett par av dessa satser har tagit plats i populärkulturen: I bergakungens sal och Morgonstämning har arrangerats av många artister. Det finns, till exempel, en jazztolkning (Duke Ellington) och en rocktolkning (The Who) av I bergakungens sal och båda styckena använts ofta i TV- och radioreklam och som filmmusik. December Challenge I år har jag tyvärr förkovrat mig bara lite i svenska därför att, under större delen av året, har jag slarvat med läxor och pluggat dåligt. Yes and no.
What I was thinking about was the “original” original Super Challenge – before the rules were changed to accommodate the fact that for most people 100 books aren’t a realistic goal in any language, let alone when reading in a L2. So I’m kind of considering aiming for 100 books and not “book units”, but I’m a little scared of committing to a challenge way beyond my possibilities. I know that math is on my side and if I could keep up the pace of the first 8 months or so of the challenge, reaching 100 books is not totally out of the question, but in the last few weeks my productivity has dramatically decreased and I don’t know whether the problem is burn-out or simply lack of focus due to the fast-approaching finish line. If the latter, setting a new goal would spurn me on and get me back to reading. If the former, the last thing I need is forcing me to read more when I don’t feel like it. That’s my conundrum.
