Today I did the oral and I think I did really badly (although you can never really tell I guess until you get the results!). I went in there fairly confident (my French is pretty good, I do have some issues but overall I can have a natural and fluent conversation). We didn't get to choose a topic exactly...she showed us a number of papers lying face down and we had to choose two, then she said we could only read the headline and not the text- so we chose a text randomly based on the headline. Anyway, when it came to actually speak with her my throat totally went dry as a bone..so my pronunciation sucked like anything...my vocab and grammar was awful too I think. Well, we'll see. I am so angry with myself for freaking out, especially when I felt confident about it! WTF? Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and get more than 5, i.e a passing grade...will keep you posted. Next week is the other part of the test.

Indeed, being too nervous is always a problem... Let's cross the finger!

So today I took the oral comprehension, comprehension ecrit and production ecrit part of the test. I think it went a lot more smoothly than the production orale!

I found the comprehension ecrit fairly straight forward- just make sure you read the articles about three times each. There wasn't really any trick questions, so I felt happy with my answers. The articles weren't too difficult and the questions were pretty easy to answer.

The comprehension oral used two examples taken from France Info so I was quite happy about that because I've spent the last four months listening to that station religiously and it certainly helped! I think in fact I had already even heard one of the examples...it sounded weirdly familiar to me!

The production ecrit was a letter to the city maire about camera surveillance. We had to take a position and write to the maire about it.

I find out next Wednesday what my mark was so I will let you know! I don't really care if I did poorly, just if I pass!

So I passed! I'm so relieved. My oral score would have been a lot better if I hadn't been so stressed out and the biggest problem I have is with writing texts, so no surprises there. But I'm so relieved and happy that it worked out okay!

My overall score was 12.7

Oral comprehension 19/25
Reading comprehension 21/25
Writing 11/25
Oral 12.5/25

Hi vaguette, felicitations!

Yesterday I just took the 3 sessions except production oral, and did really really poor, in particular with writing :( I hope I can make a narrow escape, but not optimistic at all...

I'm doing this next week...I don't really feel ready for it at all, but thankfully I
haven't a lot else to do for the next week so it might go ok..I'm a bit nervous about
the oral part, I get a bit nervous when speaking French in general, but for some reason
in an interview scenario, I don't get too nervous. I did French in school and had an
oral exam and didn't get nervous for that, but this is a bit more complex..I think I'll
bring a bottle of water in if they let me.
There's some samples here if anyone needs any. http://www.ciep.fr/en/delfdalf/sujet.php

@ Vaguette, I'm amazed that you could only read the headline!!? I thought you were
supposed to get to read a paragraph and have 20 mins to prepare?
