I never owned an Android but I found a video on YouTube that might be of interest to you:

I also just got an app called SoundHound that let's you sign a song for 10-30 seconds and detects it. It
works for songs in most major languages and in addition it also lets you hear recordings from other users
and add them as friends. By signing a few Chinese songs into the application I discovered a lot of songs
that I didn't know about before so I highly recommend it to music enthusiasts!

I got the iPhone app (AnkiSRS) yesterday, and I won't review my cards any other way. It
works very smoothly, and synching is much easier than with iAnki. However, it's not
stand-alone, you still have to add or edit your cards using Anki Online or a desktop
client. This will be fixed in the next version. |

Thanks, that's good to hear. Is there any way to know whether future updates will be
free?

As far as I've seen with all of the apps I've purchased, updates are always freely included via the App Store. Certainly, I would imagine Damien would include all updates for free for those who purchase the app, even if it weren't standard App Store policy.

Yes, they will be free, I asked about that in kanjikoohii forum where Damien posts.

Thanks for your replies. I really do like Anki's desktop application, but I recently
lost my hard drive and didn't have my SRS files backed up. Once I get around to
archiving sufficient material, it sounds like twenty-five bucks will be a reasonable sum
to pay in exchange for portable SRS drilling. And I'll be sure to back up on iAnki this
time!

For those who haven't tried out the AnkiSRS app, I bought it and it works pretty well for
the most part. The core functionality is there: reviewing and syncing. To my knowledge
you can't do any editing however and it lacks polish (for instances turning the iDevice
sideways often messes up the placement of the UI) But overall I think it works quite well
and although it's more expensive that I would normally have paid for something like this,
it's a good way to show support for the author whose desktop app many of us have found
indispensable.

I use it on my HTC Legend, and am very happy with it. The only problem I have is that it is currently impossible to do a "forced early review": once your configured daily limit is up, you simply have to wait until the next day. Other than that, it is very good indeed. I use AnkiDroid whenever I have 2 minutes or more free (waiting for a tram, in a queue in a shop, and even when sitting on the toilet!). It all adds up, and fills otherwise lost time. Highly recommended.
