I had completed Russian Pimsleur 3 and Advanced Michel Thomas, before visiting my brother
in Ukraine. I had a tutor come in a couple of hours per day which was helpful--but I
realized that my vocabulary of just over 1000 words was not near enough to get much
benefit. I think you need at least double that, so would want to have Assimil completed
also next time.

Being at least "in the Bs" is probably best.
