Hi!

Last year I took the FCE exam and earlier this year I took the CAE exam. I passed both with a grade A.

Now I would like to take the CPE exam but I would like to know first how big the difference is between CAE and CPE. Is it a lot harder? How much did you study for the exam? What kind of studymaterials did you use? Did you take classes or study from home?

For the first two exams I didnt use a course or take any classes. I did read a lot but thats it. I have a feeling the last exam will be much harder so I can use some advice on how to study for this exam.

Thanks!!

Hi! Congratulations on your recent successes! I am an English language teacher and have taught both these exams. First I think you need to have a look at samples of the CPE exam and do the exercises to see how it compares to the CAE. I personally think some of the tasks in the CAE paper are harder!
Here are some sample CPE papers

It's perfectly possible for someone to reach this level without tuition but I would definitely advise you to do as many past papers as you can and get a native speaker to correct your written work.
I think you should try to have as much contact with the language as possible, speak to native speakers, watch British TV, watch English language (preferably British) films, and pay special attention to idioms, set phrases - and the dreaded phrasal verbs!!
I wish you the best of luck!!
