For Tagalog learners, here’s a short film with subtitles that I found fairly easy to understand. An old man shows you around his house and explains everything that he would like to do, but can’t because he doesn’t have electricity.

“Walang koryente, TV, ilaw…” or "(I) don't have x, y and z" is the recurring construction here.

What's it like to live without electricity?

It’s quite hard to find Tagalog videos with subtitles. I wonder if DVDs you buy in the Philippines have them? In Thai or Chinese, you can usually choose either English subtitles or the local language (Chinese DVDs may lack the English option, but the Chinese ones will always be there, on TV as well.)
