You can post for 10 days into the new year, as long as everything is done by midnight your local time tonight.

You also have 10 days to post your final updates. :-)

And remember that next SC does not start until May 1st, so you have time to do other challenges.

Thanks :) I think the question was mostly about the bot ;)

More importantly, I got that one star in Belarusian! Yay!!!

Well, unfortunately, had a busier autumn than I had anticipated, so I didn't officially complete my
Super Challenge in French. BUT, I did so what I personally set out to do, which was to return to the
fluency I had in the past, due to all the extensive reading. I'm more of a reader than a film-watcher
anyway ;-) !

That being said, being encouraged to watch TV and films in French was not a bad thing: I
discovered some shows and films I really enjoyed, and I'm realizing I do need a steady diet of
reading/watching during the course of a year to stay at the level I'm at. I definitely did not advance,
but I stayed a solid B2/C1, and that is with very little spoken input on a daily basis. So I'm happy,
and all is good.

I'm pondering doing the next Super Challenge in May, probably in Spanish. My family has been
visiting Mexico or a Central American country every year for the last four years, and another trip is
planned for next year as well...so I'm thinking I should at least learn some basics before Christmas
2016, so I can keep up with the rest of them. I'll see how much studying I can do before May. Best
of luck to all, and hopefully will see some of you again!

This is a copy of my post on The Super Challenge - discussion thread. I’m still coming to terms with the coexistence of the two forums.

First of all, a big shout out to Cristina and Surrealix (the former for inventing the Challenge, the latter for setting up and maintaining the bot) and to all those who took part in this crazy adventure: you were awesome travelling companions and a great source of inspiration!

I find it almost impossible to assess the progress (if any) I made over the past 20 months: for sure my active skills (speaking and writing) have atrophied since I devoted all my leisure time to the Super Challenge, to the detriment of all other language-related activities. But what about my passive skills? Did they improve at all?

I certainly haven’t seen much widening of my vocabulary or the sudden clicking of a grammar concept that had eluded me before the challenge. My English was already too advanced for something like that to happen. So was it all in vain? Certainly not!

As evilado wrote uptread:

I totally agree about this! I believe that when you reach an advanced level in a language the only progress you can make is by getting better at recognizing regional varieties of the language, understanding and placing different accents, and exploring the wide range of registers the language can offer. And for that you really need an awful lot of exposure.

How true that is for me too! In fact, I’m still sitting on the fence about signing up again in May. I’ve noticed how the Super Challenge became the focus of my leisure time almost to the point of obsession and I’m not sure that's particularly healthy.

@Vivian, @Emme, Well done both of you!

And I certainly don't want you to do anything unhealthy!

Consider going for half a challenge in a language you really want to see improvements in. The point of the
challenge is not to change your goals, it is it help you fulfill the goals you already have :-)

Proud of you!

If you prepare for a trip you can use my
