Pronomial Adverbs in Danish | ||

As I continue to learn Danish, I see pronomial adverbs sometimes and sometimes not, i.e.
"derovre", "derfor", "derpå", but I do not see the reason why some are not pronomialised, i.e., "Det har du ret i" instead of, "Deri har du ret", or "Jeg skal lytte til det" instead of, "Jeg skal lytte dertil", or, "Går du hen gennem der?" instead of, "Går du dergennemhen?". As I can see no rule like in Dutch or German where pronomialisation is mandatory, is there some pattern, or is it like English, where there is a choice to pronomialise or not? Sometimes I see this in Swedish and Norwegian, but since I know Danish better, I would try to specify instead. Edited by 1e4e6 on 11 August 2014 at 1:03am 1 person has voted this message useful |
