A friend of mine was recently tested in Arabic. The test was on the US government ILR
table. 3 in reading but around a 1+ in speaking/listening. According to this chart,
that roughly equates to a C1 in reading and around an A2 in the other 2 skills:

I want to help my friend out, and I think that listening-reading could be a good
answer in this case, right? He reads so much better that listening-reading would
maybe help him get the speaking and listening up to speed. Thoughts?
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of good books for this? Free would
obviously be great, but I also would be okay purchasing things if it wasn't insanely
expensive (I'd need to buy the book in Arabic & English and the audio in Arabic,
correct?)
My friend focuses almost exclusively on MSA but knows a few words in whatever the
Palestinian dialect is.

I just checked, and I had it wrong. My friend's scores:
2+ in listening/speaking
3 in reading
So B2 in listening/speaking and C1 in reading on that equivalency chart if that helps
broaden recommendations at all. Pickings look pretty slim.
