Feeling a bit out of steam today. I did come across this saying however which really resonates with me:
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. - Chinese Proverb.
Some days I wish I had accomplished some goals earlier, and other times I feel like I'll never get there and
other times still I feel like I'll get there in the end :P Today is one of those former type of days, and seeing this
quote ever so slightly reinvigorated me some :)
10 days left of Fluency 1, mid next week and I'll be finished. So very close now, can almost taste it :)

Love that phrase - such good advice :)
I think we all have days (or weeks!) where we feel like that, but you seem to have
accomplished an astonishing amount of progress in a short space of time, and given the
regularity with which you are studying, I'm sure you will see more progress soon :)

Thanks guys, your comments are much appreciated :)
Today I feel a bit more inspired. I've gotten to just over 900 words in anki. I
suspect I will reach the 1000 mark this week sometime which means my guestimate from
last week is looking pretty accurate. I should probably be around 1500 cards at the
end of the month.
I'm learning 20 new words a day, so it's a bit of a relaxed pace but so long as I keep
on shoving cards in I think I'll be around 2000 anki cards in mid september (this will
have me at around 3000 known words as I have a few hundred on memrise, plus words
which I just know well enough not to bother with having them in anki). At this point I
hope to really take the edge off the chore that is reading in Serbian.
I think the main thing I need to be doing now is reading. I know this, but I am really
a bit lazy with having to do all the word look ups. I'll try doing a paragraph a day
starting today and see how I fare.

If I don't look up I will enjoy it even less - it's a bit of a lose/lose situation for me
:P I shall take a look at their log though :)

Who doesn't like stats? I'm nearing 6 weeks of writing every day, but in the stats about I have only included
the first 5 weeks as I wanted equal representation for the days. Unsurprisingly, the the weekend was my most
productive period, while Wednesday being my weakest came as a bit of a shock. Obviously my will to live
gradually gets crushed by work (I kid, I kid) until I hit friday where it seems I regain my strength and it seems
to peak on sunday.
I also included the daily averages and it's interesting to see that there isn't much of a disparity, only around
10% from the best to worst days. Lastly, I have also included my chart from last month, with this month's
progress superimposed onto it. I kinda use these charts and stats to motivate me to continue on. For
example, even though I am still allowing myself to write as little as 100 a day, I am finding it to allow myself to
dip below 120, even 130. This is a slow and natural progression upward as I am slowly writing faster, and by
writing faster I can write more words in less time and thus while 100 something words in the first week took
me at least 20-30mins, I am now writing the same amount in no more than 15-20mins
I don't remember if I said this before, but I think with my writing speed I have definitely seen the pareto
principle at play, in other words most of the speed boost in my writing occurred in the first week or so, and
since then it's been gradually improving. Anyways, that's it for now!

More charts! A quick note with this one, pretty self explanatory but I think this chart has really helped to show
me that I have steadily been writing more as time has gone by, and in fact a major change happened at the 25
day mark. As you can see prior to day 25, the majority of my stories on lang-8 have been less than 125 words,
and after day 25 they've been mostly above 125 words. I think this was about the time the "don't break the
streak" mentality really kicked in and my competitive nature took over. Good.
Aside from this, I'm sorta feeling I need to pay attention to my textbooks. I do need some more grammatical
exposure to things rather than just new vocabulary. I am fairly familiar with the cases now, this doesn't mean I
always decline correctly - but it means the theoretical knowledge is pretty well taken root. Just more
implementation required. And though I am fairly familiar with the various tenses and declinations, there's more
to grammar than that which I need to read about and learn.
Anyways, this is currently in the "I think I should do this, but am making no plans anytime soon" territory. We'll
see what happens. Also, I have started a new memrise course, first time in a while. I figured it was worthwhile
getting some extra vocabulary from there as well and to do something more productive than just revising
words I already know.
