Does anyone have information or an inclination about the age distribution of learners of Esperanto (and then compare that to other languages)?

I would imagine that Esperanto learners are pre-dominantly quite young (late teens)...

In my Esperanto club there's a high school student, a newlywed couple in their twenties, several people in their thirties and forties, as well as a few cotton heads. I believe one gentleman is in his 70s or 80s. At a regional conference I also saw a wide cross section of humanity. There are youth specific conferences and publications, but it's really an all ages language.

Agree with luke. There's no reason for it to be limited to teenagers, or any other demographic, as the point of the language (and part of its appeal) is its accessibility to learners from all walks of life.

There was a time when Esperanto had a reputation for being a pastime of elderly idealists. But that has changed. My perception is that the internet has given Esperanto quite a surge of growth, especially among the young. That's just an impression, though. I don't have any statistics to back it up.
