Amid all the shocking videos and images from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan is this photo of an SOS sign.
http://www.kitsapsun.com/photos/2011/mar/11/181517/ We hear about SOS being a universal sign for life-threatening emergencies but this is the first time I have seen it in a situation where the local language uses mainly a scripted non-Latin alphabet. It makes sense that SOS be universal. Is it indeed 'SOS' in every language, regardless of scripts and characters? 1 person has voted this message useful |
