I am hoping to teach my grandchild to speak Spanish. I wonder if any members have experience of these tv cartoons and if they have been any good in encouraging language learning in children.

I'd get hold of the Spanish dub of a bunch of kid's DVDs, like Disney movies or TV shows.
If you have a look around, there are a lot of Dvds available in the UK with multiple language tracks. Or you could buy them online from Spain and have them sent to you. They often even translate the songs. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

in fact the only reliable way you can encourage children to learn a language is give them a reason to learn it: find some foreign speaker friends for them of get them hooked on some cartoon series or the like... as July said, Disney is simply great in that regard: very good quality and more widely available than anything else. And it may take a while before you need to move on to other things - children are nearly immune to repetitions of things they like :) 2 persons have voted this message useful |
