The Internet has made information so easy to access and to share that learning how to defend ourselves against baloney has never been as important as now. And we need to teach our kids too, since no generation before was ever bombarded with as much information as they are today.
There are lots of fake reviews, but in most cases, there are also lots of sources for them, and reading as many as you can will give you a general impression of the product.
Nevertheless, we all get scammed every now and then. The clever marketers do win sometimes and there isn't all that much we can do about it.
