I would like to know where I can find a French manual of style. I'm interested in something along the lines of ''The Chicago Manual of Style'', but for French, of course. Do Le Monde and Le Figaro publish such style guides? If so,which one is the most generally used or prestigious? And last but certainly not least, is there any online version or ebook or any place where I can download it for free or perhaps even buy it, if that's the case?
Thanks

Le Bon Usage (Grevisse), Le Dictionnaire des Difficultés de la Langue Française ?
We've got l'Académie française to help us with style, they've published a dictionary and the website has sections about grammar and general style questions. Regarding ebooks, I haven't looked, but uztranslations or gigabook might have something.

Thank you very much. That was just what I was looking for. But just one more question : isn't it common in France for newspapers to publish style guides? I was just curious since I couldn't fine anything about it on the internet, and it's very common in the US, England, Brazil, etc.
Sometimes they even publish an online version for free, as in :
http://www.estadao.com.br/manualredacao/ ( Portuguese)
http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/home.html ( English)
I was just wondering if I couldn't find anything like that with regard to French newspapers.

I don't read newspapers that much, so I have to admit I don't really have a clue, and I've never heard of such a book being published by newspapers, but if one did, it's probably Le Figaro. My research only lead my to fashion articles and grammar books, I'm afraid! Another great series of book is pretty much anything published by Bescherelle.

Le bon usage is a grammar. Probably the best-known French grammar by the way.
I'm not sure of what you mean by "style" but you should definitely have a look at Lexique des règles typographiques en usage à l'Imprimerie nationale. The rules explained in this book are those applied by the Imprimerie nationale, but they are also widely followed by other publishers.
