In italy your name will be pronounced "mett-iu", anyway, that's enough you'll say that
you name is "matt" (pronounced by Italians) and all is over.

In one of Ian Flemming's James Bond novels,Bond is told that the Japanese will often give foreigners names that sound like their English counterparts but are often puns on vulgar or insulting Japanese words. I don't know if this is true but it is something to think about.
