Joining Team B with permission of JiWon.
Title inspired by GoldFibre's 'Korean in Kuwait' log.
Korean
Actually, I'm inspired in many ways by GoldFibre's log (now blog). The progress he has
made in the 20 months he's been studying has shown me that it is possible to achieve a
decent level in Korean without it taking a lifetime.
I've been too busy during my time in Korea so far for serious study. I enjoy listening
to K-pop, but it's been a while since I really 'hit the books'. I plan to get back
into doing that.
I'm perhaps at a low intermediate level, and I will be in Korea for at least another
two years, so I hope to at least match GoldFibre's current level. After that, the
future is unclear.
I will study using my Sogang University books and materials from KoreanClass101. Also,
all the programs on my work computer are in Korean, which makes for a fun challenge:)
Dutch
I spent some time in the Netherlands and reached intermediate level. Dutch people say
they can generally understand me, but my grammar is awful. I can get by OK in the
Netherlands, but fast-flowing conversation is impossible for me to understand.
I plan to read the Dutch logs on this forum, and perhaps see if I can buy a Kindle (or
competitor) and read some science-fiction books on it (with a dictionary close at
hand).
I may write some entries in Dutch. Feel free to correct me, whatever language I write
in :)
Other
I have studied Japanese and French in the past but didn't get past beginner level. I
have some friends who speak/study these languages so may give them another go, with
help from Pimsleur.

Day 5
A very interesting post from GoldFibre
today about motivation, amongst other things.
It made me ask myself, am I really doing all that I could be doing to reach my goals?
Not just language, but other goals too. I need to make some changes in my life, but
they will be difficult, and I'm wrapped up in my new job at the moment.
Today I listened to a few KoreanClass101 lessons.
Korean phrase of the day: 살을 찌다 (to gain weight)
Dutch phrase of the day: ontspannen (to relax)

Day 6
Did three KoreanClass101 lessons. Watched some 'Lost', but the episodes didn't have
much Korean dialogue in them.
After I finish 'Lost', I will strictly limit my exposure to English-language
programming.

바구니 (a basket)
씩씩하다 (to be brave)
성숙하다 (to be mature)
Dutch word of the day:
de courant (the newspaper)
