Sorry for nitpicking, but Milanese is not considered standard Italian (though it’s probably not as ostracised as other dialects). Standard Italian is based on the language spoken in Florence and the region of Tuscany. And please correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the region around Milan is called Lombardy in English, not Lombardi. If you want to say that in Italian, you need to say Lombardia. Yes, Emme, I do apologize. I got a tad confused, as Milanese is what my family speaks.
You're very right, standard Italian comes from Tuscany I believe. As for the spelling of "Lombardi", you are, of course, correct again. I meant the region of "Lombardia", but in English it is "Lombardy" so it came out "Lombardi". 1 person has voted this message useful |
