I am currently working through Michel Thomas for Arabic, which I really like. I am only on the beginner
course and intend to work through this and the advanced course, but after that what audio based program should I look for next? Or do you all think that at that point I might be able to focus on listening to native materials more exclusively? 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I don't think you'll really be able to use native materials exclusively after the MT Arabic - even though it is a great little course (not really 'little' as Beginners, Advanced and then Vocab...that's a lot of material!).

I haven't properly researched it, but you'll find lots of resources for Egyptian on
Al3arabiya, and I know I saw Pimsleur and a couple more courses just for Egyptian Arabic. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Here is a link to the DLI courses DLI Catalog They have one specifically for Egyptian Arabic but I do believe it uses arabic script. There are over 12 volumes of material and, I believe, close to 100 hours of audio. Certainly should get you to the next level!! If you haven't learned the Arabic script, you should really bite the bullet and do it. It's really not that hard and you could probably do it in an afternoon or two. There are tons of books on the subject ( some free ones on the DLI MSA link) and it would really expand your Arabic learning potential. There is a website here Egyptian Arabic through Music that is incredible! He breaks down the lyrics of popular songs which really helps expose you to the colloquial. You'll find yourself singing along in Arabic in no time!! 3 persons have voted this message useful | |||

@liddytime I have learned the script. My largest obstacle at the moment is remembering the vowels within the constructions. I'm especially interested in the DLI resources, since I've never worked with them before. 1 person has voted this message useful |
