By popular demand I have finally added two new features on this forum:

Hit List
You can now enter the languages you plan to learn in the future in your Personal Language Profile. You can set the priority (3 levels) for each language, enter a comment as to why, when or how you plan to learn it. When you will learn the language you can edit it just like the other languages. See my own hit list as an example.

Reasons to Learn
For each of your languages (native, learning, fluent or hit list) you can now enter the Reasons why you want or wanted to learn the language. Either choose a reason from the drop down menu or add a new one. Underneath the Reason you can make a comment and select the importance of that reason in your motivation to learn the language. See my reasons to learn Italian as an example.

You should be able to enter your own hit list and reasons to learn directly from your Personal Language Profile (click the PROFILE button in the horizontal navigation bar above).

I just made this new feature today so there are probably some bugs. I would very much enjoy any comments as to how to make this feature better and more usable.

Especially, I am not sure as to how many modalities there should be for the Importance of each Reason. Now I have *:Somewhat Important, **:Rather Important and ***Very Important. Perhaps we could have *:Minor factor, **:Important Factor and ***:Decisive factor. What do you think?

Thanks and enjoy!

I think it's a very good idea. However, it does seem to get a bit crowded under the username, i.e with all this information, Posts: Sounds: Speaks: Learning: Hit List:. Maybe there is some way to minimize this but still providing the same information. An idea would be that only the username and country is visable, and when you move the mouse over the username, a information box comes up showing the remaining info about languages etc?

Anyway, the hit list is a good addition to the forum.

I like souley's idea about mousing over peoples usernames to get information on their languages. It just seems really cluttered when you see a list of 10 or more languages next to some peoples name.

Great addition though!

Hm, I think I went a bit crazy with the "Hit List".

This is a great section to have and it's definitely something that most members have wanted for a long time. However, I do agree that the hit list should not appear on the side, under the name. I propose that the hit list be only listed when the member's profile is viewed.

I think that souley's idea is a good one (if it can be done!). If there's a lot of information under the username, then a short post will appear even shorter since the "box" it's in will be occupying so much space on the page (like this post and Frisco's above).

I agree with victor. Nevertheless, a nice addition administrator, well done!

Thanks! I'll take the hit list out from the left side of the posts and look into a javascript snippet to hide the short profile unless you put your mouse over.
