Here's my daily Anki stats dump:
German: 196 cards reviewed in 25 minutes: 1337 cards in deck
Spanish: 141 cards reviewed in 15 minutes: 2280 cards in deck
Esperanto: 313 cards reviewed in 28 minutes: 1989 cards in deck
I have also listened (repeatedly) to the next 6 lessons from Assimil German with Ease. Basically, I added those 6 tracks to a playlist on my ipod, listened to them at home while reading along with the English translation, and then have listened to that playlist repeatedly throughout the day. To test whether I can really make out what is being said, I have transcribed 4 of the lessons by hand and compared them to the German text in the lesson book. Aside from a few "typos" (confusing "daß" and "das", for example) I've done very well. I don't know if I'll do that for every lesson going forward, but it has been helpful, I think. So I'll probably do it regularly.
For tonight, I want to finish up chapter 9 of Teach Yourself Esperanto (made progress but didn't finish it last night), and continue with Spanish for Reading. I haven't added any new cards to that Anki deck for a couple of days, so I want to make sure I keep my momentum going.

My daily stats:
German: 204 cards reviewed in 22 minutes: 1411 cards in deck
Spanish: 335 cards reviewed in 55 minutes: 2380 cards in deck
Esperanto: 279 cards reviewed in 27 minutes: 1980 cards in deck
I had a crazy day at work today, so I wasn't able to listen to any Assimil German lessons. I usually do my Anki reviews during breaks and on my lunch hour, but wasn't able to do that today. So after being almost brain-dead from work and then cramming all my reviews in in one big batch, I'm just going to go veg out. I'll get back on the horse tomorrow.

Anki stats for today:
German: 228 cards reviewed in 24 minutes: 1410 cards in deck
Spanish: 158 cards reviewed in 21 minutes: 2380 cards in deck
Esperanto: 180 cards reviewed in 19 minutes: 1989 cards in deck
I was able to complete three new lessons in Assimil German with Ease. That makes 17 lessons done in 3 days of study. The actors are speaking a little more naturally now, so it is hard sometimes to differentiate between "eine/einen/einem" and similar. That's my most common difficulty. But that's not bad for just listening to these lessons mostly in the background during what otherwise would be lost time. Many people in the cubicles around me are listening to Christmas carols on their radios; I pop in my earbuds and am making pretty quick progress in my lessons.

in most situations you won't actually need to hear the difference between eine/einen/einem in order to get the proper meaning, so as a beginner you can just focus on the vocab words and understanding what's said. You can develop the sense for the grammatical cases as time goes on. It's only occasionally that they do something screwy with the word order that necessitates understanding the grammatical cases, and in a bunch of those you can guess it from the verb conjugation anyway.
once you're trying to produce correctly, it's a whole other ball game. Then you have to know all the cases precisely.

I took the weekend off from studying, leaving me with quite a backlog of Anki reviews to do. I'm also late in updating this log, so in the interest of getting everything back on track, here is what I accomplished on Monday:
German: 0 cards reviewed in 0 minutes: 1410 cards in deck
Spanish: 115 cards reviewed in 13 minutes: 2380 cards in deck
Esperanto: 675 cards reviewed in 66 minutes: 2067 cards in deck
I also completed almost all of chapter 10 of Teach Yourself Esperanto - just one more section of exercises to go to finish it off.
So my goals for today will be to finish the backlog of Spanish and German anki reviews, do the new Esperanto anki reviews, and to finish chapter 10 of TYE. If I have time after that, I will continue with German for Reading.

Whew! Remind me never to take that long of a break again. Here are my stats for today:
German: 561 cards reviewed in 66 minutes: 1475 cards in deck
Spanish: 486 cards reviewed in 60 minutes: 2380 cards in deck
Esperanto: 329 cards reviewed in 37 minutes: 2212 cards in deck
That was a lot of reviewing. It is definitely worth it to keep up with these and not fall behind.
I also completed three new lessons in Assimil German with Ease. So that makes 20 lessons covered in 4 days of study.
Now its off to complete chapter 10 of TYE, and that will probably be all for today.

Well, I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and New Year. I'm getting back into my regular routine, so let me update this log.
I have kept up with my Anki reviews pretty well over the holidays, but only made modest progress through my various textbooks and such. Here is where I stand:
Teach Yourself Esperanto: chapter 11
German for Reading: chapter 5
Spanish for Reading: chapter 8
Assimil German with Ease: lesson 28
Also, I have bought several readers or beginner-level books in order to start transitioning to "real" materials, not just textbook stuff. They are:
Vojaĝo kun Katrina: beginner-level Esperanto story
Easy Spanish Reader: graded reader in Spanish
Der Kleine Prinz: German version of The Little Prince
I am about a third of the way through Vojaĝo kun Katrina. It is only 50-something pages of pretty easy reading, so it shouldn't take all that long to finish. After that, I plan to start on La Hobito, an esperanto translation of Tolkien's The Hobbit.
I'm also starting to listen to the Radio Verda and Polskie Radio podcasts.
So I guess my overall method is settling down into:
1) do anki reviews for each language every day
2) do some textbook or Assimil work every day
3) do something recreational in each language every day

sounds like a good routine. I can't believe how many cards you have in your Anki decks. I have 1700 in my German deck, but they've been accumulating for about 6 months. My Esperanto deck is still down at around 100, and my Swedish deck is at about 150.
I'm still waiting for my copy of La Hobito to arrive, but in the mean time I've been trying to read wikipedia.
