German: -article/audio clip: SIL 18.3 “Hör-Bars in Hamburg” -writing sample on Lang-8: “Wie kann man sich recht herzlich bedanken?“ -input sentences into Anki from Lang-8 responses Spanish: -audio clip: Audiria #57 “Entrevista en la radio” -article: “¡Viva el novio! ¡Viva la novia!” -writing sample on Lang-8: "Kleingeldprinzessin" (don't worry, it's in Spanish :) Russian: -Pimsleur Lesson 5 (repeated again) I think this schedule might work! At least I am doing a little bit of Russian each day. I am going a bit slowly though because I am learning by listening, and I am a much better visual learner. But that is part of the point in this "first phase:" to get my ear accustomed to Russian sounds without undue influence on how I think the letters should be pronounced. For anyone interested in my class curricula, tomorrow I will finish the 4th and 5th acts of Schiller's "Kabale und Liebe," a play. Quabazza, I would not recommend this! Not because it isn't excellent. There is a reason why Schiller is hailed as one of Germany's finest: He is a consummate dramatist. However, it is like reading Shakespeare in German--not very useful for the language learner. I also just finished Hofmannthal's "Der Brief." Again, sublime language, but not suited for language learning (But some of the sentences were so beautiful that I just had to let them roll around in my mouth, like candy.) German: -audio clip/article: SIL 18.6 "Erstaunlich: Die Deutschen nach der WM" Spanish: -article: "Chile: Festeja su independencia" -audio clip: Audiria #176: "En la empresa de trabajo temporal" I think my new campus job will save my Russian studies, guys. I am essentially cleaning bathrooms for 4-5 hours each on Saturdays and Sundays (it is--understandably, if you think about it--one of the highest-paid jobs on campus :). And can be amusing: Guys, if your girlfriend/boyfriend(?) has bought you a tiny black thong and you leave it in the bathroom when I clean, there will be awkwardness. The point: I have a five-hour block on Saturday and Sunday to listen to as much Russian as I want. And the work isn't mentally taxing, so I can actually focus on listening (which I need to do, as I am just a beginner) without feeling that I am wasting time by sitting still for five hours just to listen to audio. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

So Russian can be called your bathroom job language. I have to do my washing in the launderette because I have no washing machine. There I always sit reading scientific magazines (while other people prefer reading the "Bild-Zeitung") or with my MP3-player listening to Danish and/or Turkish audios. Hello, Fasulye! Thank you for the message. I like that--maybe I could even shorten it and call it my "bathroom language." Then people really wouldn't have any idea what I was talking about! It could add a little mystery to my life.
