12.01.10 was a Spanish day.

Spanish:
-input "Health and Hygiene" from Must-Know Spanish into Anki (roughly 70 words--sorry, this is purely for my records)
-input all sentences from three audio clips/articles into Anki: "Los vejigantes," "De tapeo," and the new one, "El jíbaro." (roughly 40 sentences)
-one writing sample on Lang-8: "El aseo"

German:
-one writing sample on Lang-8: ,,Das Wort des Jahres"

Russian: (I know! Surprise!)
-I finally sat down and mastered how to incorporate audio clips into my flash cards. I restrained myself though and only input 10 words from the first dialogue of the first Princeton lesson. I am looking forward to tomorrow!

The new development today: I'm doing it: 5,000 sentences in Spanish too. It's the TAC, after all! So, 15,000 sentences. I like the sound of that. This means I'll need roughly 40 sentences a day, and probably some mega-marathon days. Let's do it!

Some music that's been rolling around on my iPod:

Spanish:
-El cuarteto de nos-Me amo (Think the Spanish version of "Closing Time," I guess)
-Mach y Daddy-Las Solteras
-Celia Cruz-Kimbara, La Vida es un Carnaval, Guantanamera
-Sara Tavares-Balance (okay, Portuguese, so sue me)
-Grupo Control-Te pone a bailar, Cumbia con la luna

Russian:
-ВИА Гра - Сумасшедший
-Децл - Потабачим

and of course СЛОТ. :)

Ah man do I hear you on the cold turkey thing. One reason I signed up to TAC was to stop that! :) Seems like you are making good progress anyway! You managed to do heaps even with your friend staying ^^

Oh also for some beautiful Spanish songs try Mercedes Sosa and Silvio Rodríguez, both use a lot of poetry in their songs, and sing many folk songs, personally I like them a lot :)

13.01.10 was a Russian day. (Let's be real, it was a Spanish day, but meh.)

Russian:
-input new words from second Princeton dialogue into Anki (with audio!)
-reviewed first dialogue

Spanish:
-one writing sample on Lang 8: "El árbol de oro II"
-input new words from "Illnesses and Medical Conditions" from Must-Know Spanish into Anki
-read three articles: "La siesta en Argentina," "Pescando con 'caballos," and "Los alebrijes"
-input all sentences from those articles into Anki (~50 sentences) (5,000 sentences, let's do it!)

German:
-finished section 3D of ,,Oberstufenbuch" by writing on one of the prompts and posting it to Lang-8: ,,Sitzungsfehler"

Your blog has given me some great tips - thanks! After seeing you mention lingQ several times, I decided to look into it for myself. Interesting site! I think it is a good way to incorporate new vocabulary.

How is the Ayn Rand going? I'm impressed that you are tackling such a weighty novel in a foreign language. It is certainly more advanced than Harry Potter and romance novels en español (which is what I'm currently reading).

I have a somewhat similar experience with Spanish. I've studied since High School and sometimes feel embarrassed that I'm not completely fluent by now.

What is the advanced Spanish grammar that you are studying?

I guess I've been going for 5,000 Spanish sentences too (20/day), without really meaning to. I was intending on only inputting words, but I just can't do it without context. I only input sentences in which there is new vocab or a structure that is not natural for me though. Which means they're all pretty hard to remember. I might stop around the summer though, and go into a more passive phase. I admire you for being so regular in your studies in any case. The days I study seriously, I don't have any energy left to do anything else. Congrats and keep it up!

15.01.10 was a Spanish day.

Spanish:
-audio clip: Audiria's "Escenas diarias, En el médico (II)"
-reviewed Anki cards due
-input Lang-8 sentences (see below)

German:
-input Lang-8 sentences

I decided today would be a good day for reviewing a few things, taking stock. The thing about adding so many new sentences, as Joanthemaid aptly pointed out, is that (at least, the way I understand the method) the real value lies in internalizing the structure of each one. I'm definitely not capable of internalizing the structures of 40 new sentences a day. Maybe 40 words, but not 40 sentences. But putting them in makes one feel productive, haha. So, today I reviewed my sentences.

I also took stock of my Lang-8 entries. I've posted 68, not too bad, I guess. So, today I looked over each entry and the corrections that people made, and input interesting sentences from my entries and native speakers' comments for Anki review. That took up most of today's study session.
