Nice effort, if you keep this up you'll be reaping rewards in Russian in no time! :)

I like your idea of going though old Skype logs with your tutor by the way.

Thanks Teango :) If I can keep this up til the end of the year, I'll be a happy man .. and, as a bonus, speak half-decent Russian! I know I'm terrible for procrastination and motivation, so it's only my own brain that could sabotage my efforts. Which is good (no other major commitments!), and bad (my brain sometimes hates me!).

Definitely recommend reviewing Skype logs, if you've a tutor on there. I think I'd like to take it a step further and record the audio from the lesson - it must be doable - and review that, too. Should help eliminate my most common speaking errors quicker, I think.

And, logging my learning, yesterday:
- another couple of chapers free-reading book. Definitely going to think about usefulness of intensive reading this at the weekend.
- 1 hour speaking with tutor.
- SRS
- 2 hours passive listening

And, today:
- er .. nothing, basically. 20 mins of SRS, but work demands prevented more.

If there's no easy way to do this already in Skype, then here's a handy tip. If your tutor's cool with you recording the session, I'd recommend something like Snapz Pro X (for Mac users) or something similar for the PC. You can use it to listen to and record a specific audio channel (e.g. audio coming over Skype) and even record video too. It's not free by all means, but it's a great little program. Perhaps there are also some free software alternatives out there too.

I'm not sure I've ever come across a forum with so many Mac users :) I don't think Skype supports it natively though, so I'll have to try and find some Windows version or work out how to write one myself. Assuming tutor happy, of course - mailed, waiting for response.

Today:
- SRS only, again .. but at least cleared the deck. Looks like my weekly/monthly revision forecasts are starting to drop, which is nice, but I've been thinking that I can probably use Anki more efficiently. For example, I keep imperfective and perfective verbs as seperate cards, which, for known cards, seems a waste. I like the double-reinforcement effect from seeing the same verbs in two contexts, but when I know it, it's definitely a waste. I think I'm going to try and be a bit more pro-active in "optimising" my deck - namely, merging known cards into just one card, and clarifying cards I don't know (so, if I score a card as 1, add information to the card that should help remembering it).

Ok, last few days:

Friday:
- Read a couple of chapter of book
- Few typing exercises
- SRS

Yesterday:
- Read a couple more chapters of book. Much more fun ditching all the vocabulary lookup, but I'll probably try and go back over it at some point.
- 45 mins TV
- Half dozen typing exercises
- Read through Ch19 Penguin
- 4 or 5 hours of talk radio. Far too much, head reeling afterwards. Sticking to music radio for the next few months - some chat, some adverts, but mostly music. Much less brainache.
- SRS

Today
- 45 mins TV
- 30 mins listening to articles with transcript
- 30 mins revision on noun case endings
- Finished Ch19 Penguin
- SRS

So, didn't manage all the listening I wanted, or all the grammar study. The listening failed because .. well, I'm finding my current articles pretty boring, to be honest, so no real motivation to do it. Think I'll look into getting some LR going instead. Didn't manage Ch20 of Penguin mainly due to time - walking into work instead of getting the bus loses a few hours a week when I could be reading (although I do get some more Russian music in, it's not such a good use of time).

New plan for next week:
- Continue free reading through book, as much as I fancy.
- Find some LR materials
- 1 hour tutor
- 1.5 hours TV
- Ch 20 Penguin
- SRS
- 10 hours music radio through week
