I am someone who takes an interest in MANY different languages. I have so many
interests, that it sometimes takes a lot of effort to stay with one language for a while. I decided that I would start a dabble log, a side language log where I record all my accomplishments for the goals I have in other languages that I'm not as serious with. Russian is my main focus, and all time I have will probably be diverted to that, but this log couldn't hurt! I won't need to limit myself, and I can learn anytime, and anything. Some of the languages I will record about on this log include but are not limited to: Afrikaans, Czech, Dutch, Hungarian, Polish, Swedish, and Turkish. Who knows where this will take me, maybe I will study one of these languages full on in the future! 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Today I did some Persian. On pimsleur.com, you can get the first lesson free of any of
their languages (you can't download it though). It was really cool and I think I might consider trying Farsi seriously, although I would like to continue with Pimsleur, as it was really easy with Pimsleur, and Farsi seems like a logical language in general. I want to try to do some Czech today :D. I think that the FSI FAST course is really
hardcorea dn maybe a bit of an overkill for what this log represents, but slow and steady is not problem (even though it IS called FAST :) ). Anyways, I really want to get serious with Persian. It seems like fun, and I'm going to start doing Easy Persian, and hopefully once I'm done with TAC for this year and I have reached a satisfactory level in RUssian for this year I can take Persian on as a full time language :). 1 person has voted this message useful | |

So now I am dabbling in Georgian. I have found a fantastic site with a lot of information
on the Georgian language which I will definitely be using. I downloaded the Georgian Byki (I'm using some Byki for Russian too), and hopefully I can really dig in deep. The great site on Georgian is here. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

Perhaps I will purchase a Georgian course. I mean, the website I have and Byki is good,
but I want audio and dialogs, which I can only get with a limited amount with Byki, and none for the site (I think there is ONE mp3 file). Georgian will be a relief to study from Russian case wise. Although it has more cases, I think endings are more regular, and there are no genders. Hopefully this refreshing aspect will make the two extra cases and the never ending verbal system less of a hassle :). 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Just got my Georgian book yesterday. Will DEFINITELY be tackling that soon.

Gamarjoba!!! (I can't seem to get the Georgian font working for this so I'm just going to write in Latin letters.
Well I started to learn the sounds of the alphabet and the alphabet itself, and it was so COOL! I think I might actually take this full on, because I kind of want something to keep me busy (although I did feel guilty just seeing my Russian book sitting there while I studied Georgian :( ). Well it's going well, and once I figure out how to get a Georgian keyboard software, I will definitely start the Mkhudreli (sp?) script. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

That would be pretty cool if you took on Georgian and I don't think your Russian would mind too much. I see lots of people on here saying they want to study Georgian, but TixhiiDon is the only one who is really studying it, as far as I know, so you would be one of the few. I really love the Georgian alphabet and how the language sounds (consonant clusters galore!) and would like to learn the language at some point, but it is for now a very low priority. Just learning the alphabet would be fun, but then I'd be liable to move it up in priority or even begin studying that, and we really can't have that now!
