Hi, I have been and still am without internet from last Friday, and anyway put the last part of Petit Prince L-R on ice for a few days, so I hope you manage it without what I promised you.
There are many differences between the audio and text I have, mostly either some words and some verbal aspects (I felt at an advanced stage in my learning when I recognized a perfective verb in the audio and an imperfective in the text!), in addition to all those "he said". But also a couple of longer paragraphs have been cut in the audio. The drunk chapter is quite corresponding, even if he speaks to himself much and this is not found in the text. Ah, so that's where you have disappeared to!
Hmm, that's a shame... I haven't listened to any more. But it isn't really ideal to have audio that skips parts of or changes the text >_< I started a thread on L-R material for Russian by the way, did you see it? Hopefully, we can gather some more things there. The little Prince is just so ideal since it's so easy. If I find the time, I can see if I can locate that other audio on uztranslations! [Day 6]
Today, I finally got around to trying some L-R. Or well, what is now my version of it. My plan is the following (using Egils saga). 1. Read through (or skim through it while editing it into a dual text) the text in English, approximately 10 pages at a time (= 5 pages of actual content). 2. Listen to the Icelandic audio while reading the English. 3. Listen to the Icelandic audio while reading the Icelandic. 4. Do Scriptorium on at least one chapter (they aren't very long, 5 pages is 7 chapters). 5. Shadow another (or the same perhaps?) chapter. Good yes no? :) I'm at point 3 for part 1 now, couldn't actually finish it since I got too tired. That what happens when you can't start studying before 8 pm. Also went through my so far acquired vocabulary today, since I have it all in my Moleskin book that I can easily bring to work. I've got to say that even though the format of Egils saga is great (short chapters and often repetitive actions), it's a hell of a story to keep up with. 100 names and kings and sons of this and that person. So reading it several, several time doesn't bother me at all really. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Still no internet connection. Unfortunately the one uztranslations Petit prince is the exact same production as you know (at least the first few minutes of the dedication to Leon Werth), but in two mp3 files, one over 100 Mb and the other some 20 Mb. Also, I thought that there were 2 petit princes on uztranslations, but it seems not so :-( Thanks for that thread you started, and good luck with the saga! :-) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Well, due to a serious lack of free time and those pesky French exams, not much has been happening ;)
I'm continuing with the first 11 pages I made from Egils Saga, and I managed to squeeze in some vocab yesterday in the park (obligatory park visit when the weather is this great), but nothing very serious, just writing down the words for the second exercise in Linguaphone. Going away for the weekend with the prospect of perhaps not being able to study that very much. I'm bringing my Linguaphone prints though. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Well, very little progress this weekend and today. Not entirely my fault though.
Today, I continued with the second Linguaphone text (copied it for the second time and listened and shadowed) and shadowed and copied chapter 2 of Egils Saga. Whoops, what happened here? Well, lots of things not very study related! I'm considering spending my work time this week on Icelandic instead of on Russian, since once I get home from work I practically pass out from exhaustion.
Anyway, so far I've done chapter three in TYI and finished working with the first 10 pages of Egils Saga, and I have prepared the next 12 pages. Now I have a Russian essay to perfection though, so that will have to come first. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

TYI Chapter 4 done (but not listened to yet since I'm at work).
Why do they need to have synonyms for thin and tall (for example)? Why can't they just introduce one word for each, or if they introduce several, then at least explain the difference in nuance (if there is any)? 1 person has voted this message useful |
