How are you liking Assimil Japanese? Which edition do you have? It's written in Kana and Kanji right?
Since I am using Assimil German (1958) I was wondering how the Japanese one was like.
Also, you mentioned finishing both book 1 and 2 in 4 months? How many lessons are there in each? Most people, for an average of 100 lessons, have a goal of 5 or 6 months, and you're also only doing a lesson a day, right? I was wondering what your plan was and what goals you have from using it.
Sorry for all the questions. ^_^ Just very curious.

I'm liking the Assimil Japanese course so far. Yes, it's Kanji and Kana, not just kana, and they have the furigana above the Kanji as well. It also has romanji written directly under the Japanese, which I do not like. It'd be fine if it was somewhere else instead of directly under the Japanese. They do eventually move it, but not until near the end. The edition I have is, I think, the newest one. "Japanese With Ease".
There's 99 lessons (49 in 1, 50 in 2), and I'm doing 1 lesson a day, but I'm also skipping the grammar lessons (I'll read them, but also do the next lesson). So it's more like 85 lessons. With doing the active phase, that would be about 125 days or a little over 4 months.
My only real goal is to be well on my way to an "Intermediate" level with my Japanese after finishing the Assimil course.

Japanesepod101 - Newbie Season 3, Episodes 7-9 - 45 minutes
Assimil - reviewed lesson 3, studied lesson 4 - 25 minutes
Japanese in Mangaland - chapters 28, 29 and 30 - 60 minutes
Finished the first book in the Mangaland series. Did it a bit quickly, but I was only really paying attention to the "theory" part of it, not so much the vocab. With the vocab tables in the book, I'll use them as I go through Japanese Sentence Patterns and make my own sentences in order to learn some of the vocab later.
Total Time: 130 minutes

Thanks for the answers. =) I was considering getting it, since I'm liking Assimil German without toil a lot, but I think I have my hands full with Japanese for Everyone for now. ^^
Good luck with your studies! I'm following your log actively and hope to see you improve every day!

Quick update.
Took most of New Year's Eve off, just doing the Japanese Assimil lesson 5. Meant to do a lot today, but I got a rare call from my social life (went to a friend's house to watch the Winter Classic). Got home, did Assimil Japanese Lesson 6 and Assimil French lesson 1 (French officially started!). But then that was it because I got a massive migraine while doing the Assimil lessons (felt it coming on on the drive home) which means I stopped doing everything, turned all of the lights off, downed a few Excedrin Migraine and just waited it out. I get some pretty bad migraines from time to time.
Anyway, tomorrow I plan to get back on track. At least I was able to get the Assimil lessons done today.

TY Improve Your German - Sorta started over. Going to give the exercises in the book a try. Listened to the first dialogue and did exercises 1 and 2. Didn't have a problem with them but I have listened to and read this dialogue a bunch of times already. Exercise 3 was a "fill in the prepositions" exercise (got 5 out of 7), and the 4th exercises was a matching exercises - match the question to the answer (got all of them). Then it tells you to answer the questions for yourself. Here's mine.
