I agree with ChiaBrain. I, too, am a native English speaker who has acquired Spanish and am now studying Portuguese. I would add the following resources. There's a website called On Learning Brazilian Portuguese that is organized by an American speaker of Brazilian Portuguese with lots of great advice and a collection of links.

For books, along with FSI, I am using: "Ponto de Encontro" with the Brazilian activities manual- try ebay and/or amazon.I also enjoy listening to Brazilian music as often as I can, especially with a caipirinha close by. I also am doing a skype language exchange to practice speaking and I have two friends on-island from Brazil who speak Portuguese. I want to speak the language, not just study it and I feel it is very important to practice speaking as often as possible.

For European Portuguese materials, "Ponto de Encontro" will also work well. Those who speak Spanish and want to go for European Portuguese should try Assimil's "El nuevo portugués sin esfuerzo" Also for Spanish speakers there is a free on-line multimedia course offered by the Spanish Junta de Extremadura: Curso de Portugués para Hispanohablantes

There are a few books with an English base that purport to get you from Spanish to Portuguese (Brazilian) and one website with several exercises that I know of in addition to UT Austin's excellent Tafalado, from the University of Arizona: Atividades- Portuguese for Spanish Speakers

I checked the BrazilianPodClass Website and I have to admit it is better than I expected :). Anyway, I like to study with a book and I am also not sure of this "course" covers everthing- basic grammer, words etc. I mean, is it possible ONLY to study with that course?

And yes, again, I like to work with a book.

I don't understand why there is so less material for (Brazilian) Portuguese...

If you keep in mind that Brazilian Portuguese is still Portuguese, after all, then I don't think one can say there is not enough material. Assimil is certainly worth recommending, they have two versions of their course, so that's fine, there are the usual suspects TY or Colloquial and so on.
But as you speak German you can consider working with a Langenscheidt Sprachkurs. There is a "Langenscheidt Praktisches Lehrbuch Portugiesisch", I have a previous edition, and generally speaking these courses are at least as good as the Teach Yourself or Colloquial courses that get more recommendations here on this forum because they are for English speakers. My edition from 1984 is comprehensive and gives you all the grammar you need (well, never all, of course) and a good vocabulary. I don't know the newer edition, you may be able to check it out in your local library or bookshop. There are more sources in German language, look around on Amazon or in your bookshop, it is always good to buy material one likes.
If you have a course for European Portuguese: I think this is really ok and no problem. If you master this version you can use material like BrazilianPodClass for reinforcement and for tuning your ear to the Brazilian version, I don't feel it is such a big deal, but I cannot make a general rule out of my feelings, so you have to decide yourself.
