Hey if you are interested to see a Chabrol film La ceremonie would be a good place to start. I also enjoyed Masques and a film I liked very much which came out recentely is La Femme Coupee en Deux.

I have a box of 7 films by Rohmer of which I've seen two. Most recentely I saw La Femme de L'aviateur.

You may or may not know that many French films are on youtube. I know that there are at least 5 or 6 films by Chabrol. Of course the quality is much better on a DVD.
