Note: I tried to update my log for the last THREE DAYS in the morning before I left for work and got an sql error every time (and my post was gone), so I'm just doing it in the evening today for the fourth time because I give up. I don't know why that was happening. Soooo without further adieu, since my last update...
Hourly breakdown:
Spanish: 27.5 hours
Sanskrit: 17 hours
Spanish:
6 hours shadowing TV
7 hours drilling grammar
10 hours reading
2 hours reviewing vocabulary
2.5 full hours conversing with a native speaker :)
I've found a few Spanish blogs and forums to read and I've been adding unfamiliar vocabulary from those as I go. I'm still shadowing TV and I've started drilling the less common tenses and constructions, because I find myself pausing and searching for this information when I speak and I want to internalize it more.
I had a golden opportunity when a guy from Venezuela came in and worked for us for a few days...he actually wanted to be a Spanish tutor. (!) He was MORE than patient with my speaking skills, and genuinely enjoyed teaching me by speaking slightly above my level and explaining the grammar and other tricky parts. Does it really get any better than that?
He did point out, though, that I have a tendency to shift "a" into "o" when speaking...this resulted in a rather amusing mistake when he asked, "Cuanto ganaste hoy?", and after a particularly rough day, I replied "100 dolores". :-P
Sanskrit:
3 hours studying vocabulary
14 hours practicing grammar
Sanskrit is a language very, very different from English, and I feel I still haven't assimilated its structure internally, so any intensive study is naturally going to focus on that first. I've STUDIED the grammar before, but I never really did that many exercises or tried to produce my own output. I'm focusing on writing sentences using different tenses and moods, but I also need a bigger vocabulary to do it very well, so I've tried looking up the words I need as I go and add them diligently. Even if it's slow as molasses at first, it WILL pay off eventually. This is a similar method to how I learned Latin so I know what to expect.

No no...the method I was using to shadow TV doesn't use subtitles! :) I think you may have misunderstood. Here's the method I'm using:
Video: miamigoesdepertambién
Me: *pauses video* miamigoes... esteperú... miamigoesdeperútambién... mi amigo es DE PERÚ TAMBIÉN, oh, THAT's what they were saying. Mi amigo es de Perú también. *repeat until able to use native speed and intonation*
Then hit play and keep listening to chunks of the video at a time, stopping every time you miss a word or don't understand perfectly. It's been amazing for both my listening and speaking skills, as well as helping me learn new phrases and conversational speech.

How much background do you have in both languages?
