Why would they make a whole new course just to update the currency? I'm sure most people know the Franc is gone by now.

Because depending on the language it affects the structures, masculine/feminine/neutral, etc. All languages that are now part of the Euro currency have newly rerecorded courses. At some point I remember them calling the new courses Euro Editions, which confused me at the time. The French course doesn't have Francs anymore.

I don't think that is the case for the comprehensive course. I did see the euro edition stuff that you were talking about though. It seems that the quick and simple courses use the euro.
