Assimil
Listened to the audio for the second CD at lunch and to the first half a few times
passively while working.
Completed lessons 30 and 31.
Notes:
The way I've been doing Assimil is:
I listen to the audio several times usually while walking or at work. I try to
understand as much as I can and note the words and phrases that I don't understand.
Then I listen to the audio while reading the target language text. Sometimes I am able
to understand more this way. Then I compare the translation, often both the Spanish
and English ones (I have both books). Sometimes I highlight words/phrases that I want
to call attention to. Then I go over the grammatical notes. Finally I play the audio
while trying to shadow it while reading the text usually a couple times.

Came down with a nasty cold or flu. Coughing all day and aching by evening. Went to
bed feeling feverish
Mar 13 (Fri)
Called in sick to work and slept all day. Feeling better by evening.
Assimil: Lesson 32
Notes: I've been using "Speak in a Week: Essential Verbs Italian" to look up
the conjugations mentioned in Assimil. Its a simple book with the 100 most common
verbs with just the present, past perfect, imperfect and future tenses. Its size makes
it easier to find things and carry around.

Assimil: Lesson 33
Came across the word "ne", of which apparently there isn't anything like in Spanish
(or Portuguese). I've seen it before but I don't recall
It has the following uses:
adjective: any, some
adverb: from there, from here
pronoun: of it, of them, of him, of her, about it, about them
example:
Quante sorelle hai? - Ne ho tre (di sorelle)
Here's a good thread on it:
http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=202496&highl ight=ne+pronombre
Essential Italian Grammar: I actually scanned through this whole book looking
for mention of "ne" but did not find it. I will have to read it more in depth soon. It
is only 100 pages or so.
Teach Yourself Beginners Italian:
I got a free copy of this so I figured I'd check it out. It's got plenty of dialogs
with recordings. Even if it overlaps a lot with what I'm learning from Assimil it
should make for good practice.
Immersionplus Italian: Checked out the free audio on Audible. Seems like it has
some good dialogs to follow and its just $15
Easy Italian Reader: Read the "Look Inside!" sample on Amazon. I could
understand almost all of the text and enjoyed it. For $10 I'll get it.

Assimil: Lesson 34. Listened to dialog on way to work and did the audio, text
and notes waiting for and after dinner. It was nice to do it outside for a change and
I'll have to do so more. Noticed the "ne" word.
