Salut à tous :)
I already have a decent knowledge in French and its history, but only decent, that's why I am starting this thread as a motivational medium at first, and as a sharing topic with guys who already achieved advanced fluency in French.
I learnt Fench in the first place at school, so it was a poor learning experience, but I managed to speak it very nicely in terms of oral stuff and accent, but I still lack many vocabulary and some advanced grammar techniques.

Goals :
1-Increase my vocabulary by at least 8000 words
2-Take care of the rigid grammar problems
3-learn the French idiomatic phrases (as much as I can)
So now that my goals are set, let's talk about the method

My Method :
Vocabulary :
Learn about 100 words daily through flashcards sourced from various stuffs like
-A good Larousse Dictionnaire de Français which contains 60000 words
-Novels like "Ce Plus Grand Amour" by James Jones and "Bonjour Tristesse" by Françoise Sagan.
-Internet and online/offline newspapers
Grammar :
I have basically one good book and I hope it will suffice "Le Robert & Nathan Grammaire"
Time Frame :
I have my hole life to do that, but to keep things a bit exciting I set a 3 months period to do that since I have lots of languages on my hit list.

Well thats it, I'll be updating this topic daily and I hope I won't get lazy and do my freacking work .

Finally, this is only a first attempt to take my French to the next level, so after accomplishing the goals mentioned above, I'll start another thread to sharpen my vocabulary to about 20000 words. I believe it's enough to call yourself prficient in any language .

THank you

Update
After initiating this conversation HERE, I realised that I was being a little bit unrealistic about my method of achieving my goal, so I'll not memorize words alphabetically but I will try to internalise about 6000 "active" word, then I will expand that as much as necessary .

I've done so far about 40 words, and watched a "vulgar" French comedy show by Gad ElMaleh (he is hilarious!).
I am having a problem with chosing the words I learn, the debat I going through is weather I should focus on the "normal" words ie: commonly used r I should chew the 20.000 word dictionary alphabetically, I think I should go alphabetical since I am aiming for advanced fluency, 20000 can be more than enough .

I wish you all the best for your project! I'm attempting something similar right now, in my experience it is much better to just go through newspaper articles and learn every word you don't know yet than going through a dictionary alphabetically - unless you got superhuman motivation you ll get stuck somewhere around the letter e or so;) If you want to listen to some more slang, try "le donjon de naheulbeuk"!

Thank you Isarin for you input
You know what? I think I will settle for newspapers and websites at first, then scan a dictionary, because I've come across multiple problems like recalling the words and mixing it up with a similar word.
Thank you so much .

Hey!
Are you still hanging in there? Btw, I just finished another book by Françoise Sagan, "Les merveilleux nuages", it's a good book & it took me only around 4 hours to read or so.

Hey Isarin :)
Sorry for my input scarcity ;)
I am now pretty much comfortable with my French, but yet unsatysfied...
I've started a diary in French to practice my writing skills, and bought some new novels like Anna Gavalda's "Je L'aimais" and "Ensemble, C'est Tout" .
I iniciated my journal intime so I can get a whole range of diverse topics to talk about, then, I will attempt to write a story in French to put the final retouches on my writing ability. And then I can focus on my abondoned Spanish :)
Thanx man
