Been studying for exams like mad and don't really surface often to study languages :(. Likely won't catch a break until the last week of October, but once November gets going, I'll be buried again. Still, I have read some French Harry, my Swahili class makes me at least maintain my Swahili, and as soon as I have time off I'm hitting Latin hard.

When you do, please feel free to PM me (I'm a Latin teacher) if you have any questions.

Thanks a lot! I definitely will before long; I've got a slight obsession with Latin at the moment...

Long time no updates!
As for French, still going through French Harry Potter 5, currently at page 694. Also watched Le Roi Lion.
Latin--I forgot to take Wheelock with me! Devastating. I've been doing bits and pieces but exams are closing in. I'll aim to do a review tomorrow before things get really hectic.
And finally, Swahili. I met up with someone from East Africa and we had a nice 45-min or so chat, all in Swahili, and I think it went really well! I understood a decent amount of what was said, and could respond with reasonable intelligence and the person I met was extremely nice and patient!
Niliongea na mtu anayetoka Afrika ya Mashariki. Tulikula chakula cha jioni pamoja na tulizungumza kwa Kiswahili.

LATIN: Read a few pages of Lingua Latina...I'm thinking about signing up for an elementary Latin class next semester, to make sure I have time for it. It is difficult to justify Latin practice when I have exams and whatnot for the classes in which I am actually enrolled.
SWAHILI: Learned something new today! In front of me = Mbele yangu (lit. "my front"). Behind me = Nyuma yangu. Behind you = Nyuma yako. Behind him/her = Nyuma yake. Behind us = Nyuma yetu. Behind you (all) = Nyuma yenu. Behind them = Nyuma yao.
FRENCH: Read some more Harry Potter.
Expected progress for the next few days:
I know I must sound like a disque rayƩ, but I've got yet another midterm approaching and in this class, my grade is good but not solid, which equals a lot of studying. That said, I'll likely keep reading French Harry, maybe review some Latin and Swahili.

Wow it has been a while! I'm still working at the languages though and have finally recovered somewhat from the tumultuous last semester. It's all uphill and blizzarding from here though!
FRENCH: I'm in a French class this spring (literature, should be fun, big reading load, probably a fair bit of writing too). Almost almost almost done with French Harry Potter 5; I left it at school or else I would've finished it over the holidays.
SWAHILI: I finished the semester quite nicely with a 100 average. I mean, holy cow, I have never had a 100 average in anything since...first grade? But yeah, I never lost a point on a single exam, test, quiz, or piece of homework. So, that's my self-congratulation of the day. I think I'll probably enroll in a second semester, just so I make sure to keep up with it. I'm currently at the 6-month mark, and it would be a shame to forget everything in the shuffle of classes, exams, and social stuff.
LATIN: It's been a stop-and-go process, but I'm back on "go" and have ploughed through 6 chapters of Wheelock and 7 chapters of Lingua Latina in the past 10 days or so. Christmas morning, I was sitting around with a Latin book. I really hate pronouns. Lingua Latina in particular seems keen to bury me in them, so I'm somewhat stalled at chapter 7 (I can comprehend what is happening, but I don't think I could write it myself). Enrolled in a Latin class next semester.
I'm aware of the debate on these boards about the usefulness of school classes, but I think at this point, it is the only way to make sure I have the time for it...otherwise, I'd be under a full courseload plus additional language study. Unless I never want to see my friends or the light of day again, I don't think that's happening! But if anyone can convince me otherwise, I'd love to figure out better ways of balancing mandatory studying with independent intensive study.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Did some Latin today with Lingua Latina. I'm into Chapter 8, and I think this is a good stopping point to use some brute cramming to memorize the pronouns and demonstratives and whatnot. Hic, haec, hoc, hunc, hanc, hoc, huius, huic, fhjgkhgigtkfhjghjgkjghgkj.

LATIN: Memorized the 'hic' table today and also made some progress towards learning all the pronouns. Also practiced making sentences passive. I've begun putting together a binder with the basic grammar rules for quick reference.
In this next week, I'll aim to cement the 'hic' table in my mind, memorize all the pronouns, and then return to Lingua Latina VIII and pore carefully over it (reading first for basic comprehension--the easy part--and then looking at every word and determining what forms the nouns/pronouns/verbs are in and why; and finally, doing the Pensa, of course).
SWAHILI: Read Mbweha na Jogoo with a dictionary. Tomorrow, I'll reread it (with dictionary), and then move on to the next story (with dictionary).
I really should have kept up with reading stories like this all last semester since it would have accelerated my progress about a million times. Ah well, this semester, I'll make sure to do it, at least one short story or book chapter per week, and I'm sure I'll see major results by summer.
