I am obviously too lazy for keeping the log...
anyway - the latest updates:
still most satisfied with Spanish. number of words I understand and use is increasing. i can read and enjoy
TinTin without much problems. I am not sure how many new words per page I encounter, but the number is
apparently not big enough to interfere with understanding of the story or humor (same for Garfield in Spanish - I
love it :) ). I can even read a huge article in El Mondo about Lorca's death, although a number of words I don't
understand is much greater in this case and does interfere with understanding certain paragraphs. However, in
my opinion, this is a great achievement, as none of this would be possible a month ago.
Russian, well, I don't know...My understanding of written and heard language is steadily increasing. it also seems
to me that I am expressing my self a bit more freely then before (I even dared to write a post in the Russian sub-
forum :) ). however, still not really happy with the progress.
Mandarin and Arabic are still going slowly but steadily. I do not learn much per week, but what I learn during the
class stays in my mind effortlessly. I think that at the moment I know at least 150 (probably more) arabic words
and can form simple sentences ("what is this...?", "is that...", "the book is new.", "the big book" "how are you?",
asking about name and so on). I also think that I know about 40 characters and can form some simple sentences
(things like asking about possessions, expressions with numbers etc.). I am hoping that once I gather enough of
this "basic knowledge", I will naturally go more deeply and more intensively into these languages. however, if
that does not happen naturally in few months - it will have to happen with force

few things I've realized in past couple of weeks:
- why the hack I didn't think before of learning vocab through associations? it works so great. also, I've noticed
that picture dictionaries are a great toll for me.
- flash cards and a lot of flash cards... very useful, especially when I take time to make my own.
- my plan to organize my studies by studying two languages per day failed greatly the moment it started...
seems to me that I tend to concentrate more on one language for certain amount of time (without completely
neglecting others), so I just decided to go with that.
