Hi Anya and Eumaeus,

I apologize for hold long I've taken in creating this log! A family emergency called my
attention elsewhere, but I'm back and ready to win the 2010 Team TAC :)

So, to start things out maybe we should log how far we are in each of our target
languages, a goal we hope to accomplish by the end of the year, and how we are going to
achieve our goals.

I'll begin:

My target languages have been narrowed down to three: Italian, German, and French.

Current level in Italian: A1
Goal: B2
Italian shall be the main linguistic focus for me this year. I am at about an A1
fluency, and am going to work at least an hour a night to reach a B2 by the end of the
year. In order to do this, I will be cutting back on some time spent studying German.
In order to reach a B2 level, I plan to finish QASANA and 1000 extraneous vocabulary
words I have amassed in the form of flashcards. To gain grammatical knowledge I will,
as with German and French, begin reading the first Harry Potter book.

Current level in German: B1
Goal: B2
Although my goal is not great, I think it is reasonable and will increase my
proficiency by quite a lot. I want to spend 45 minutes to an hour every night studying
German vocabulary and grammar. For vocabulary, I plan to complete all 75 levels of
QASANA by the end of the year, and add an addition 1000 words I may encounter during my
reading of Harry Potter, book 1. By reading Harry Potter I also hope to gain a stronger grammatical platform.

Current Level in French: Beginner
Goal: B1
Hopefully, considering my newfound "background" in Italian and my fluency in Spanish,
French will not be quite as hard. I plan to finish "French Without Toil" by April and
50 levels of QASANA. I will then attempt to work through the first Harry Potter.

In addition to these three goals, I will utilize my weekends to study Latin. I won't
set a goal, as it's not really part of my TAC, but I just thought I would get it on
paper :)

Hope to hear from you both soon, and have a great New Year!

Ciao Lux and Emaeus,
Come vanno le cose?
Presento un bilancio – che ho fatto per nostro TAC:

January resume:

Italian: watching “Rai Uno” (passive and active), listening to “Assimil” and conversations. Couple of mail to my collegue. Trying to produce simple everyday sentences and speak a little bit. Reading “Divina comedia”.
German: Radio passive and active listening (as well as “Pons” audiocours), watching TV.
Japanese: “Sputnik sweat heart “ reading, starting to produce some output, working on vocabulary.
Turkish: Reading Turkish-German bilingual book, posting in my log (and I have a lot of help from Fasulye), also listening to conversations.
