I'm not sure I am understanding Arabic (or Hebrew) being "the first language in the world"? Am I missing something here?

Yes, that one had me too a bit baffled. In the end I just assumed that since the Bible starts with Adam and Eve, and there is no mentioning of anyone changing into another language until the tower of Bable, and before that everyone seemed to speak Hebrew, that was the reasoning behind it. I seem to remember hearing that Jesus spoke Arameic, and not Hebrew, but generally the languages of the Jews was Hebrew.

Does this make any sense, or is there a much more logical reason that I have not heard about?

@Solfrid Cristin

What you say is based on Jewish (and Christian) scriptural understanding.

But these guys are Muslims, right?

So...!?

So the story of Adam and Eve, even Moses, Jesus, Isaac, Ismail, Noah etc. are all part of Islam too i.e. Adam is considered the first human created by God and all the others are considered prophets and messangers in Islam too, Muhammad is just considered the last one.

My father used to speak Hebrew when he spent some time in Jerusalem. He said it took him less than 4 months to become fluent in the spoken language. I don't know about the script though, but I imagine he is literate as well.

So, based on the anecdotal evidence my father has relayed to me, I would assume that Hebrew can't be very difficult.
