Has anyone tried working on Assimil Brazilian Portuguese even they didn't speak french? I want to try to do this because assimil has been very effective with my Spanish learning. I tried looking over the book and I understand most of the text because of my knowledge in Spanish. I think the only problem would be idioms, I wouldn't be able to understand the explanation for those.
I'm also halfway through FSI portuguese volume 1.
What do you guys think? Is it doable?

I understand that there is a Portuguese program in Spanish from Assimil. Here is the link, it looks like it might be European Portuguese thought: Assimil Portugues in Spanish

I have the Spanish based portuguese program, I definitely think it's doable, especially because portuguese is so close to Spanish. I'll be doing the same thing.
I would keep a dictionary/computer close by to look up some things that you don't understand though :)
