Usually I can pick up a Romance language immediately and within a few seconds pinpoint which one it is.
However, I can not with Portuguese(particularly the European brand), something about it sounds very, very Slavic to me.
I was wondering what phonical differences to other Romance languages and similarities to Slavic are their with Portuguese that cause me to muddle a Western-most Romance language with a East European group with near no similarity other than mutually being Indo-European languages.

Mikry, remember you're talking about European Portuguese! (To be specific the Lisboeta dialect from Lisbon)
Try looking at Northern Portuguese(Porto and near the border with Spain) and the phonology changes (not too much but it's different)!
