Maybe I am wrong, but I think Pimsleur is better after MT and Assimil. Pimsleur is pure drilling and I think it's a good way to consolidate the basics you have gained with MT and Assimil.

I did like Pimsleur for the the drilling (it got boring but worked), and with MT you can forget things quick if you skip a few days.
I'm trying to get started with FSI for the drilling...I keep forgetting the damn tenses in Spanish!

Thank you much for the reply.

I start work next week with many native speakers of Spanish. This is the main reason I want to supplement pimsleur. You do not recommend any supplementation? I can be patient though too.

Also, I don't know if it will help, but I just got a bunch of Spanish movies this English subtitles. If it doesn't help, at least it will be interesting to see non-hollywood movies.

The immediate use of the language. I think nothing beats practice with a native speaker. I do recommend supplementation, but not in excess. One example was when I was learning Spanish I used Pimsleur and Madrigal's Magic Key book. It was the idea of converting English words to Spanish, so my flow of speech was more creative.

The movies are a great idea. The more input the better, but be aware the dialogue will be for a specific audience. It is after all a reflection of society. (Depending when the movies were made.) There might be a lot of slang, vulgarities etc...

Well, tried the first half of MT's Spanish. In all humbleness, I respect the method greatly but it is just not for me. I will continue with Pimsleur, doing multiple lessons per day. Upon completion, I will begin Assimil and Platiquemos. Using Spanish movies as supplementation along the way.

Thank you everyone for your input.

Ahh well, not everyone learns the same. I'd still say start Assimil now, the passive phase will be extremely boring if you do it later. And you might as well start now, you'll only get fluent faster, right?
