Calling all Arabic/Persian speakers !
A friend of mine has married an Iranian guy whose English is not very good. He would scrape A1 from what I have heard of him speak on the telephone. I have agreed to give him ESOL lessons (I am qualified) on a 1:1 basis for the next six months, on the grounds I'll have a Persian native to help when I get round to Persian next year.
She feels that she ought to learn Farsi which is obviously written in أبجدية عربية. I am unsure whether the reading of Persian and the reading of Arabic are identical. I can help her learn to read Arabic but don't want to lead her down the wrong path.
I have pointed her towards easypersian.com but for my own interest how close are the two readings? Wikipedia didn't help !
Many thanks in advance.
