I didn't zoom in on the picture of the book, it does indeed have a CD icon
on it. I placed an order for both volumes, so I'll find out in June (Amazon's
estimated ship date is mid June).

Take a look at the cover! When a CD and a little book are pictured on the
left, under the title, this should mean it's the complete package that is being
sold. However, 50 dollars is too low a price for book + cds; consider that the
other versions for non English speakers cost over 60 Euros.

I'm confident that they include the CDs. $50 is not too cheap for it to be the book+CD. For example, the Spanish with Ease course on Amazon.com costs $45 here and the Chinese with Ease on Amazon.com costs $33 here.
The cheapest price I see them listed for on Amazon.fr is 65 Euros, or $88 USD.

Glad I could point it out =). I hope you were aware, but the Assimil Chinese with Ease course is actually split across two volumes. Volume 2, for when you get to lesson 50, is here for the same price.
Thus, by some measures, it's not as good a deal as it seems at first. I think that it is still pretty great because assimil.com sells each volume for 69 euros, plus shipping. Thus, big savings =).

I wonder if there are any problems with getting this program out in time.
Still no word on its release date.

I received the Assimil Japanese with Ease Volume 1 last week from Amazon.
Volume 2 is set to ship this week. I'm spending most of my language
learning time on Spanish now, but I'm gathering resources for japanese
which will be my next language. :)

There’s also Vol 3. "Writing Japanese With Ease". Has anyone had a chance to look inside? (Here in So Cal the bookstores don’t usually carry Assimil books, so I have to rely on Amazon)
With these new character writing volumes Assimil is venturing into an uncharted territory, I am curious how well have they handled that.

amazon.CA sells the assimil's books+cds at $84 (can) if I recall correctly. I guess it would make it the winner! It's even less expensive than what they sell it for on their own website.

@awake- Have you looked at the Assimil Japanese yet? I know you said you were mostly studying Spanish, but if you are like me you could not resist opening your new Japanese course.
If you have examined it, what do you think of it?
