I am still hanging around the forum. I just seem to spend so much more time reading posts and totally forget to update. Got a load of money for my birthday so purchased some more language books.
Goals for the Short-term:
Japanese::
-Continue at least an hour of Japanese TV shows per day
-Read at least three articles of reasonable length per day
-Spend an hour of typing, either on Lang-8 or Sharedtalk.
Korean::
- Finish Elementary Korean knowing most vocabulary and all grammatical points.
- Attempt to read 1 article of Korean a day.
- Keep doing writing attempts on Lang-8.
- Watch some Korean dramas during the week.
Russian::
- Finish the language learning books I already own.
- Attempt to read 1/2 articles of Russian a day.
- Find some audio.
Mandarin:
- Continue TY and Primer of reading and writing Mandarin.
- Find some audio.
Swedish:
- Start TY and find some more materials for further studying.

Wow, a serious update is needed not only for my own keeping up with things but also as the goals are really not applicable anymore.
Japanese::
I have been seriously slacking on my Japanese so hopefully this will give me the motivation that I need. I have a ton of movies unwatched so will take the pile out and start watching some. I wrote an entry on lang8 yesterday and saw how rusty my japanese is getting just from my short absence. I am heading onto my 10K vocabulary goal now roughly.
Korean::
Still slowly working through my various books and feeling uncomfortable with spoken and written. Badly needing improvement especially after all these months and no progress hardly.
German::
Started with some Michel Thomas to get me back in the swing of things. Currently on CD2 of Foundation level. Ploughing through.

Perhaps tackling too many languages is not working for you. Why don't you choose one and try to stick with it. That way you might not have such major gaps in your studies.

Yeah I was thinking that. However then I feel I have a problem. I am a first year Spanish and German university student, and my Japanese is already at a level where I can communicate well.
I think my motivation is just dwindling at the moment I guess, as whenever I think about language study I think about my non progress as such and put it off for another few hours. I have until November for some true intensive study so I will try and implement this plan starting today.

Hey Kupo,
I reckon that your dwindling motivation is just a phase, you'll get over it. Everyone has their ups and downs. I feel like I'm coming out of a down phase at the moment. I'm slowly getting the drive to do a bit more study every day after a few weeks of nonactivity.
It's exactly my nonprogress which has made going back to German so hard for me. So I focus on Spanish/ and even Italian where I can see/make progress much easier. Just to get back in the groove. So maybe just focus on one for a week or so, and pound it out until you find your groove again?
Thom.

As we speak I have just written out a timetable for myself so I will try this method first as I usually work well with a structured routine. If that doesn't work, then I will try one language and add them back into my groove again.
As always, thank you for the kind comments everyone.
I have decided that Michel Thomas for the available languages might give me the 'feeling of progress leap' that I feel I need for motivation. I own it for German, Spanish, Mandarin and Russian so will trial these and see how it works. Korean is working through Elementary - Intermediate textbooks however I also own some dramas for audio to add some fun into the textbook learning. Japanese is just my brush-up and keep my level language.
As today started in the wrong time frame for me I will do my German and Korean part of the timetable starting tomorrow.
Spanish: Completed the first CD of Michel Thomas foundation. Looked at some articles in Spanish and felt quite confident in myself for achieving basic fluency in this language quickly.
More to follow.

The rest of my day is as follows:
Mandarin: Completed CD1 of Michel Thomas and feel my tone pronounciation has improved already. I am suprised.
Russian: Completed CD1 of Michel Thomas, am stuttering with my pronounciation a little but this will come in time.
Japanese: Wrote some emails and on my journal, chatted in chat room for a bit.
I am feeling good about this run through of Michel Thomas already... which is definitely a good thing after a low period!

Started my blog again, so excuse the mess of it all.
Started from tomorrow is my intensive study. I can do this properly now as it is also part of my required study for certain languages. I have also been inspired quite a lot by watching youtube videos at the moment, and I feel that I am actually missing my languages more than I realised. So I am going to try starting again.
I actually like the layout of the Teach Yourself books, so for every language apart from Spanish (which I cannot seem to find in stores, got to try online now) and Japanese (where it just wouldn't be beneficial) I have the book. These, I hope, are going to help me get the basics down so I can continue on.
I will try to keep a daily or bi-daily record and look at my progress until my goal dates.
Wish me luck!
