Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate it.
I was also amazed when I first found out that tagalog had it's own script. Too bad baybayin is virtually extinct now in the Philippines.

I am liking the interactivity of Alif Baa's workbook with DVDs. It's very interesting and keeps me going, and I am learning alot with practice and drills.

SUCCESS! PASSING THE FRENCH EXAM AND ACHIEVING LEVEL B IN FRENCH
One of my TAC goals for the year was that: "I successfully pass the FAO's Examen Intermediare de Français (ILE) by the end of 2010."
Today I checked my email and found that I passed it and now officially have intermediate status (Level B) in the French Language according to UN Standards (and in line with a B1/B2 in the European Framework)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is fantastic as it will definitely help in my posting to francophone countries in years to come!

My Final Result was Pass.
My Written Score was 31/50 (Minimum 30/50 needed)
My Oral Score was 34/50 (Minimum 30/50 needed)
Total Score was 65/100 (Minimum 60/100 needed to pass exam)

Having passed and being elated, I want to improve further so that I may also achieve my next goal which is to "I successfully pass the FAO's Examen de Connaissances Linguistiques Français (LPE) by the end of 2011." This test will be more challenging, and will be Level C according to UN standards, and more in line to the C1/C2 in the European Framework.
I can see from my current test results that I still need to improve in writing and speaking, and I must continue my daily french study to overcome my new challenge.

SHADOWING: THOROUGH MEMORIZATION OR GLOBAL UNDERSTANDING?

I was wondering about whether one should be highly thorough with shadowing material OR I can move-on with shadowing material even though I do not memorise or fully comprehend the material.
This issue came up with French shadowing, and from ProfArguelle's suggestion, it seems that for the purpose of shadowing: "Instead of memorization, your focus should be upon understanding, and instead of perfection, you goal should be improvement."

The best way to do this profitably and enjoyably is to focus on the content of the didactic dialogues and narratives or the plot of the novel or story, as the case may be, and in so doing come, over time, to increase your vocabulary by learning words from and in their living context, internalize sentence patterns and correct grammatical forms, and continue to match your pronunciation and intonation against a correct model.
