[A minha resposta em espanhol:] Te entiendo perfectamente pero todavia no puedo responder correctamente en Portugues asi que la escrivo en Español. En la musica no lo entiendo todo pero ya que estoy acostumbrado a la fonetica del Portugueses me parece que endtiendo la gran mayoria de las palabras. Si, es muy interesante ver alguin aprender su idioma nativa! [My response in English:] I understand perfectly but still can not answer correctly in Portuguese so therefor I write my response in Spanish. In music I do not understand everything but because I am accustomed to the phonetics of Portuguese I seem to understand the vast majority of words. In portuguese (European): Eu compreendo perfeitamente mas ainda não consigo responder correctamente em Português e assim escrevo em espanhol. Na música não entendo tudo mas porque estou acostumado à fonética do português me parece que entendo a grande maioria das palavras. Sim, é muito interessante ver alguém a aprender o seu idioma nativo. In Brazilian I think that the word "correctamente" would be "corretamente", and that will be the future oficial form. They tipically re-arranje some phrases diferently, but in this case I think that the text would be very similar. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Apart from "correctamente", I see nothing that would make me think that that is not Brazilian Portuguese.
Mind you, I sometimes use the European spelling, like "facto", for stylistic reasons, so I guess even with the "correctamente" I'd still think this might be Brazilian. The differences between Brazilian and European Portuguese are way overrated. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I agree with the answers above, but I think that the sentence "é muito interessante ver alguém a aprender o seu idioma nativo" would be only used in European Portuguese, as a Brazilian would certainly say "é muito interessante ver alguém aprendendo o seu idioma nativo".

I disagree, fcavalheiro.
Using "a + verbo" ao invés de "verbo + gerúndio" is not exclusive to Europeans. I see it a lot in written Brazilian media. Spoken it would sound a little off, but not too much (I use it a lot and few people seem to notice). 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

And I also disagree with you, Satoshi.
Yes, it's not wrong and sometimes people may use "a + verbo", but I'm sure that the form "verbo + gerúndio" is more used here in Brazil by far. You may use it when you speak, as you say you do, but then you are an exception, in my opinion. Actually if you look for further information on this you will see that this is considered one of the differences between Brazilian and European Portuguese.
