This thread got a bad start, but it is not irrelevant.

The most logical place to look for Latin speaking youngsters would be in monasteries, but I doubt that there are any Latin speaking monasteries left.

In the absence of such institutions the nextmost logical place to search would be in families with Latin speaking parents. I can't quote any actual names, but I have read at least one story about an overzealous professor who tried to teach his children Latin by only speaking in that language to them. Apparently they revolted, ordering him to speak 'like mum does'.

Iversen, that's the trouble. I've read that story too, but there's no details, no sources, rarely even any
names.

Assimil provides much greater input than Pimsleur for a fraction of the price. The format of the course is completely different from Pimsleur.

I appreciate that opinions can differ, but it would be hard to find a less accurate statement than that!

There are still certain sects where all services are in Latin, and many of these people want their young kids to learn Latin. There's got to be some who put their kids in some sort of immersion situation. But Latin was dead. Is dead. Even if you make it a kid's native language, it's still not the real thing. All the spoken Latin I've heard was spoken with some accent that was readily noticeable (German, etc.).
