I have been studying Swedish for about 18 months so far, but I never really took my studies seriously. After discovering some of the techniques used by serious language learners, I have really picked up the pace recently, and I think a language log will be a good way to track my progress. To start out, here are the techniques I am using in my language learning.
1. AJATT's 10,000 Sentences Method
I am using iFlash on Mac OS X as my SRS system. I add new sentences every night.
2. Professor Alexander Arguelles' Shadowing and Scriptorium Methods
I am using Linguaphone's Swedish course, which is similar to Assimil. I shadow every morning when I get up for 30 minutes and then study the grammar points and do scriptorium with the text. I am currently on lesson 30 of the course.
3. Listening-Reading Method
I am in the first stage of the L-R method right now, reading the English translation of a Swedish novel. I already have the novel in Swedish as well as an unabridged audio book of the text is Swedish.

Shadowing Setback
For the last month or so, I have been shadowing every morning to Linguaphone's Swedish course. I live in a fairly urban area of San Francisco, so the best place I've found so far to do the shadowing is the roof of my building. It has been a great place for this so far. I can see the whole city from my roof, as well as Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, plus I get some time outside to enjoy the morning weather. However, last night my neighbor asked me to stop as my walking on the roof has apparently disturbed her sleep frequently in the mornings. Until I find a better option, I guess I'm back to shadowing in my living room :(
Immersion Online
I use Gmail as my mail client, so last week, I switched the interface to Swedish, and it has worked great so far. I am trying to gradually turn everything I use to Swedish, so this was a good first step.

Shadowing/Scriptorium
I am up to lesson 40 of Linguaphone's Swedish course, still doing it every day.
Listening-Reading Method
I am on phase 2 of the listening-reading method. I finished reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" ("Män Som Hatar Kvinnor") in English, now I am going to read the original Swedish while listening to the Swedish audio book of it.
Online Immersion
I have now switched Google Calendar, Facebook, and Netvibes over to Swedish, along with Gmail.

Good luck with your studies.
I've only recently begun learning Swedish (the Teach Yourself book/CD is my main course) and I'm enjoying it greatly.
Online immersion is a great idea and one I think I'll adopt once I get a bit further!

I bought it in Sweden when I was visiting there this summer. Unfortunately for Americans, I cannot find any Swedish bookstores that will ship to the US. But it looks like you are based in Canada, so you are in luck. This seems like a good site that ships to Canada: http://www.bokus.com/se/

This is really ridiculous. For all the talk about globalization, we can't even buy a book from Sweden.

Bokus deliver abroad. However, right now their website says this:
Temporarily we don't deliver to the United States of America!
The American customs return our shipments despite the requested and correct export documentation. Due to the complicated procedures and the costs involved we are no longer able to offer this service to customers in the US. As soon as the problems are solved we will start making deliveries to the United States of America again. Thank you for your understanding.
